Author Guidelines

The Journal of Applied Chemistry and Biomedical Laboratory Research (JACBioLab), published biannually by Sekolah Tinggi Analis Bakti Asih Bandung (STABA), features original research on the dynamic applications of Applied Chemistry and Biomedical Laboratory Research. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process.

Contributions should consist of original material that advances knowledge, and conclusions that are justified from the experimental design and data presented. Information should be detailed enough to permit replication of the work by competent workers in the field. Finally, the writing should be clear, concise, and grammatically correct.

All submissions must be in English. Equal consideration is given to original manuscripts in English from any country. However, it is recommended that all non-English-speaking authors seek the assistance of a colleague who is proficient in English to ensure correct language usage before submission.

The content of the manuscript and responsibility for writing remain with the author. JACBioLab does not support any editing services and is not responsible for any services provided.

Before submitting your manuscript, review the title, keywords, and abstract. These elements are important to ensure that readers can find your article online through electronic search engines on the internet.

Articles submitted must comply with the JACBioLab Author Guidelines and must use the template provided. When submitting an article, the author must upload the Copyright Transfer Agreement as a supporting file.

JACBioLab is a fully electronic journal. All manuscripts MUST be submitted online via https://jurnal.staba.ac.id/JACBioLab. Submissions via email and other tools will be immediately rejected and asked to upload directly.

Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts are submitted and collected through https://jurnal.staba.ac.id/JACBioLab. If you do not have an author account, create a new account and log in with your username and password. Before uploading your manuscript to Editorial Manager, make sure you have all the documents described in the manuscript preparation section.

All submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous editorial review before being sent for peer review. Manuscripts are checked for plagiarism and formatting. Manuscripts that do not pass the initial review will not be considered for peer review.

Download the Conflict of Interest and Copyright Transfer Agreement Form, which can be obtained from the Instructions & Forms tab. The completed form must be submitted with the manuscript during the submission period.

Manuscripts that are not formatted according to the journal's style and following the author's instructions will not be accepted.

 

REVIEW PROCESS

Peer Review

All submitted manuscripts will go through a double-blind peer-review process and be managed fully online. Manuscripts will be reviewed by 2 or more people who are not affiliated with the same institution or have potential conflicts of interest in reviewing the manuscript. The editor's decision to accept or reject these reviewers is final. Decisions on manuscripts are made following the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to JACBioLab via https://jurnal.staba.ac.id/JACBioLab.

Revision

Articles sent for revision to authors do not guarantee that the paper will be accepted. Authors are given approximately two weeks to return the revised manuscript. Please note that if the revision is not received within three months, the Editorial Office will decide to reject it.

 

PUBLICATION PROCESS

The final decision to publish or not to publish an article rests with the Editor-in-Chief. The editor reserves the right to determine the style and, if necessary, edit and shorten any material accepted for publication. When the galley proof is ready, the editor will send it to the author for review. Confirmation or comments from the author must be given within 48 hours of receiving the galley proof to avoid delays in publishing the manuscript. Substantial changes to the text will not be considered at this stage. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made by the editorial team and approved by the corresponding author.

 

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

Language

All submitted articles must be written in English. Manuscripts received are not in English or have poor English, the editorial office has the right to reject the manuscript.

Cover Letter

A cover letter must be uploaded during the online submission process. Explain in the cover letter why your paper should be published in JACBioLab.

MANUSCRIPT

Manuscripts must be written using the template provided by JACBioLab.

Title Page

The title should accurately, clearly, and concisely reflect the emphasis and content of the paper. The title should be short and grammatically correct. The title should generally not include numbers, acronyms, abbreviations, or punctuation. The title should be written in Aptos Display font, size 18, Topiary Green (#677D01), single line spacing, and no more than 10–12 words.

Author List

All authors must be listed on the title page and included in the submission in the correct order. Ensure that all author email addresses provided are valid. Affiliations must include department, faculty, university, city, postal code and country. Corresponding authors must be marked with an asterisk (*) and include their email. The person designated as an author must have sufficient involvement in the work to justify their authorship. 

Abstract and Keywords

The person designated as an author must have participated sufficiently in the work to justify his or her authorship. 

Main Text

Manuscripts must be typed on A4 paper with top, bottom, left and right margins of 2.5 cm. Manuscripts are written in one column with 1 line spacing, using Aptos Display font with a size of 10 pt.

Introduction

The introduction highlights why the research is important. It should define the problem at hand, the purpose of the research, and its significance. The current state of the field should be thoroughly reviewed, and key publications should be cited with references greater than 80% from the last 5 years. Please highlight controversial and dissenting hypotheses if necessary. Finally, briefly state the main aims of the research. Citations should be numbered in the order in which they appear and indicated by a number in parentheses—for example, (1) or (2,3), or (4–6).

Materials and Methods

Materials and Methods should be described in sufficient detail to allow others to replicate and build upon the published results. Please note that publication of your manuscript implies that you must make all materials, data, and protocols associated with the publication available to readers. New methods and protocols should be described in detail while established methods can be described briefly and cited appropriately. Interventional studies involving animals or humans, and other studies requiring ethical approval, must cite the approving authority and the appropriate ethical approval code.

This section is also explained in subpoints so that readers can better understand the content presented. This section usually starts from the research design used and explains research ethics, then followed by measurement techniques and statistical tests.

Authors are required to disclose details of how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has been used in the paper (e.g., to generate text, data, or graphics, or to assist in study design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation). The use of GenAI for superficial text editing (e.g., grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting) need not be declared.

Results and Discussion

This section can be divided into several sub-points, each of which reviews one result and directly discusses its findings. This section should provide a concise and precise description of the results of the experiment, their interpretation, and the conclusions that can be drawn from the experiment.

Authors should discuss the results and how they can be interpreted from the perspective of previous studies and of the working hypotheses. The findings and their implications should be discussed in the broadest context possible.

Conclusions

The conclusion section should answer the research objectives and show how you have addressed the research problem, and indicate any remaining knowledge gaps by suggesting issues for further research. This section should not be presented in bullet points but should be in paragraphs.

Author Contributions: For research articles with several authors, a short paragraph specifying their individual contributions must be provided. The following statements should be used “Con-ceptualization, X.X. and Y.Y.; methodology, X.X.; software, X.X.; validation, X.X., Y.Y. and Z.Z.; formal analysis, X.X.; investigation, X.X.; resources, X.X.; data curation, X.X.; writing—original draft preparation, X.X.; writing—review and editing, X.X.; visualization, X.X.; supervision, X.X.; project administration, X.X.; funding acquisition, Y.Y. All authors have read and agreed to the published version of the manuscript.” Please turn to the CRediT taxonomy for the term explana-tion. Authorship must be limited to those who have contributed substantially to the work re-ported.

Funding: “This research received no external funding” or “This research was funded by NAME OF FUNDER, grant number XXX” and “The APC was funded by XXX”. Check carefully that the details given are accurate and use the standard spelling of funding agency names at https://search.crossref.org/funding. Any errors may affect your future funding.

Informed Consent Statement: Any research article describing a study involving humans should contain this statement. Please add “Informed consent was obtained from all subjects involved in the study.” OR “Patient consent was waived due to REASON (please provide a detailed justifica-tion).” OR “Not applicable.” for studies not involving humans. You might also choose to exclude this statement if the study did not involve humans.

Acknowledgments: In this section, you can acknowledge any support given which is not covered by the author contribution or funding sections. This may include administrative and technical support, or donations in kind (e.g., materials used for experiments). Where GenAI has been used for purposes such as generating text, data, or graphics, or for study design, data collection, analy-sis, or interpretation of data, please add “During the preparation of this manuscript/study, the author(s) used [tool name, version information] for the purposes of [description of use]. The au-thors have reviewed and edited the output and take full responsibility for the content of this publication”.

Conflicts of Interest: Declare conflicts of interest or state “The authors declare no conflicts of in-terest.” Authors must identify and declare any personal circumstances or interest that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of reported research results. Any role of the funders in the design of the study; in the collection, analyses or interpre-tation of data; in the writing of the manuscript; or in the decision to publish the results must be declared in this section. If there is no role, please state “The funders had no role in the design of the study; in the collection, analyses, or interpretation of data; in the writing of the manuscript; or in the decision to publish the results”.

References

References should be numbered in the order they appear in the text (including citations in tables and legends) and listed individually at the end of the manuscript or in the “Vancouver” format. We recommend preparing references using Mendeley software. Include digital object identifiers (DOIs) for all references if available. The total number of references in a research article is recommended to be equal to or more than 20 and must be less than 5 years old (80% of total references). Do not cite unavailable and unpublished works.

 

Tables

Number tables consecutively with Arabic numerals (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, Table 3) in the order they are first cited in the text. Provide a short title, which should appear at the top of each table. Titles of main tables and tables should be in 10-point Aptos Display font, justified. Explain any nonstandard abbreviations in table footnotes.

 

Figures

Ideally, figures provide useful information. They should be high-quality, in JPEG, JPG, or PNG format. Number figures consecutively with Arabic numerals (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3) in the order they are first cited in the text. Provide a short title, which should appear at the bottom of each figure, centered.
